Police in Adjumani District are investigating a murder case after a 26-year-old man allegedly died from injuries sustained during a bar fight in Apaa Township, Itirikwa Sub-county.

Adjumani District Police have launched investigations into a murder case following the death of a 26-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted during a violent altercation at a bar in Apaa Township, Itirikwa Sub-county.

The deceased, identified as Ivan Bumyasi, a resident of Apaa Township, reportedly sustained severe injuries after the incident which occurred on the night of May 17, 2026.

According to the North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, SP Collins Asea, the incident took place at around 9:00pm at a bar operated by a businessman only identified as Kojja.

“It is alleged that the deceased developed a misunderstanding with a lady identified as Stella Aromo while at the bar. The disagreement escalated into a physical fight before another suspect, Musa Ayitawala, who is said to be Aromo’s boyfriend, joined in,” SP Asea said.

Police allege that the suspects assaulted the deceased using bricks and a nearby bench, leaving him critically injured.

“The victim was first rushed to Mungula Health Centre IV for medical attention and later referred to Adjumani General Hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to the injuries on May 18, 2026,” he added.

The case has been registered at Adjumani Central Police Station under CRB No. 274/2026 as murder by assault.

SP Asea confirmed that two suspects are already in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

He said police have recorded statements from witnesses and completed relevant documentation, including Police Forms 48A and 48B, which have been forwarded to Adjumani General Hospital to support a postmortem examination.

Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid violence when resolving disputes, especially in entertainment venues where misunderstandings can quickly escalate into fatal confrontations.
